Summary
Drawn from the memoires and memories of 400 Jews who grew up in the Vinnitsa area of the Ukraine, which was controlled by the Soviets, then (briefly) by the Nazis, and then (briefly and only in part) by the Romanian government during the Second World War. The overall pattern of genocide is different in this district from other parts of Eastern and Central Europe. Some Jewish communities reappeared after the war with as much as three quarters of their population
