Louis Malle at AFI: Louis Malle was invited to speak at the American Film Institute in Los Angeles as part of the Harold Lloyd Master Seminars. Louis chose this particular film because "it was an evocation of freedom for those Jewish children when they see the Statue of Liberty, America being the promised land."
