Summary
Set in 1955, the residents of a small Montana community are forced to move their homes to make way for a new dam. Most of them have left, but a few remain: a religious zealot with two wives, a conscience-bound minister, and an orphan boy whose fevered visions have convinced him that he's an angel. Mysterious, black-clad Evacuation Teams are sent to move these holdouts, and the characters' lives converge in a tale of longing, loss, faith and reawakening
